U.S. retail stores specializing in shoes sold $35.6 billion in goods during 2017, up from $34.9 billion in in 2016 and $34.1 billion in 2015, per U.S. Census Bureau reports.  (This number does not include the massive number of shoes sold in department stores, in sporting goods stores and on internet sites like Zappos.)
