Landline Subscribers Cancel Service; Bundled Services Pick Up Some of the Slack, Business and Industry Trends Analysis

Massive numbers of American cellphone users have given up their landline telephones.  The recent economic slowdown accelerated this trend, since cutting off the landline saved consumers a significant amount of money each month.  According to the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), 50.8% of U.S. households had wireless-only phone service as of December 2016, up from 10.5% as of December 2006.
