Health Sharing Ministries Attract Millions of Members, Business and Industry Trends Analysis

As of mid-2021, about 1.5 million Americans had joined religious health groups known as health sharing ministries according to the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries.  These programs are less expensive for members than traditional health insurance and rely on many healthy members with few or no payments to allow substantial payments for those who need expensive treatment.  It is basically a cost sharing agreement among members with similar religious beliefs.
