Credit Card Issuers Face New Regulations/Visa and MasterCard Enjoy Global Growth, Business and Industry Trends Analysis

Global consumers are awash in credit cards.  Visa, for example, reports that it processed 71 billion transactions over its VisaNet during its fiscal year ending September 30, 2016.  Total debit transactions ($4.4 trillion, up from $4.0 trillion the previous year) exceeded total credit card transactions ($3.7 trillion, up from $3.3 trillion the previous year) by a wide margin, as consumers continue to shy away from debt for day-to-day purchases.
