Affordable Care Act Overview

In 2010

Insurance companies are no longer allowed to deny coverage to children (individuals 19 years of age and younger) with pre-existing conditions.

Individuals may remain on their parents' policies up until the age of 26.

Insurance companies may no longer charge co-payments for preventative examinations, such as colonoscopies or mammograms.

Small businesses (with under 25 employees) that provide health insurance for employees will be eligible for a 35% tax credit (25% for nonprofits).
