Equity
Residential is an integrated real estate investment
trust (REIT) engaged in the acquisition, ownership,
management and operation of multi-family properties.
The largest publicly traded owner and operator of
multiple-family properties in the U.S., the firm owns
more than 1,000 communities throughout 35 states,
totaling over 200,000 units. Its properties are highly
diversified with respect to design and geography,
ranging from high-rise to garden styles. Equity believes
this diversity contributes to its stability as a company
by protecting it from economic downturns centered
around certain areas or social classes. Taking further
advantage of its size and scope, the company offers
three unique relocation programs to its tenants. The
Coast-to-Coast program allows residents to move to
another Equity community anywhere in the country without
terminating the current lease. The Door-to-Door program
allows tenants to change to a different size apartment
in the same community when more space is needed or
money problems arise. The Block-to-Block program makes
it easy for tenants to move to another Equity community
in the same city without paying lease cancellation
fees. These programs help Equity retain a larger number
of tenants than the industry average. Residents may
also participate in a rent-to-own program in which
equity credit is transferable across the country.
Moreover, specially designed corporate, military and
student housing plans are available. Corporate housing
benefits include no security deposit, no application
fee, direct-bill accounts, fully furnished units,
short-term leases and credit card payment options.
Military housing provides similar benefits in addition
to no income requirements and military discounts.
Student housing features reduced rent, sports facilities
and close-to-campus locations. In recent news, Equity
Residential and Prudential Relocation announced a
redesigned rental program providing greater benefits
for corporate clients and their relocating employees. |
