Introduction
This is the first in a series of videos designed to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's
new book, The Next Boom — What You Absolutely, Positively Have to Know About the
World Between Now and 2025. Each of these 10 videos will correspond with a chapter
in the book.
In this introductory video, Plunkett gives a few highlights from the text. Topics
covered in The Next Boom include globalization and the coming evolution in global
trade, population shifts, demographics, a soaring global middle class and the extraordinary
benefits we are about to enjoy from advancing technologies. In 2012, the world will
reach the 7 billion population milestone.
Tremendous opportunities on both a U.S. basis and a global basis are about to arise,
and you can best take advantage of those opportunities in your business, your career
planning, your professional work and your investments, if you understand the changes
and the trends that are about to bring about the next boom.
Plunkett explains how the Next Boom gives you a look at the near future, by showing
you "where we're going, how we're going to get there, and what it will feel like
when we arrive."
The Next Boom will be available in January 2011 in both hard cover and ebook format,
and will be available to purchase at Amazon.com, Plunkett Research, Ltd. and other
fine book sellers worldwide.
Chapter 1 "Population Growth, Aging and Movement"
In this, the first chapter in a ten part series, Jack W. Plunkett introduces the
influences in population that will shape the future. An aging baby boomer population
will test the strength of our healthcare system. The demographics of the United
States are going to change significantly. Jack explains how a growing population
lends an advantage to industrialized nations, and how the majority of population
growth will be held to a very select few of these growing economies.
The Next Boom will be available in both hard cover and ebook format, and will be
available to purchase at Amazon.com, Plunkett Research, Ltd. and other fine book
sellers worldwide.
Chapter 2 "Consumers and Customers; Savers and Spenders
In the second chapter of our ten part series to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's new
book The Next Boom, the author discusses the changing practices in consumption and
saving. Consumers have learned their lesson with debt, and both spending and saving
practices are heading for change. He also explains the role Generation Y and emerging
nations play in development and future growth in business.
The Next Boom is now, as of January 24th, available in both hard cover and in ebook
formats at Amazon.com, iBookstore, BarnesandNoble.com, through Plunkett Research,
Ltd. and other fine book sellers worldwide.
Chapter 3"Global Trade 2.0"
In this, the third installment of the ten part series to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's
new book The Next Boom, the author discusses what he calls "Global Trade 2.0." Global
Trade will accelerate dramatically as technology begins to advance across developing
nations. Global trade will more than double between 2010 and 2030, growing to $27
trillion, creating jobs, enhancing incomes and opening up substantial opportunities
for businesses in America and abroad. Much of this increased trade will be in services
rather than manufactured goods, including intellectual property, professional services
and digital entertainment.
The Next Boom is now, as of January 24th, available in both hard cover and in ebook
formats at Amazon.com, iBookstore, BarnesandNoble.com, through Plunkett Research,
Ltd. and other fine book sellers worldwide.
Chapter 4 "The Global Middle Class and Their Growing Mountain of Money"
In this, the fourth installment of the ten part series to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's
new book The Next Boom, covers the growth of the global middle class. He asserts
what 'middle class' is throughout the world and that as this market grows, so will
the economies of those that recognize them. Plunkett discusses the impact these
trends have had on the wireless and automotive industry and how other areas of retail
will see The Next Boom if they can serve this growing population.
The Next Boom is now, as of January 24th, available in both hard cover and in ebook
formats at Amazon.com, iBookstore, BarnesandNoble.com, through Plunkett Research,
Ltd. and other fine book sellers worldwide.
Chapter 5 "Competition, Innovation and Entrepreneurship"
In this, the fifth installment of the ten part series to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's
new book The Next Boom, we discuss the world issues that are due to arise between
now and 2025, and how competition, innovation and entrepreneurship will address
them. Advances in such areas as nanotechnology, biotechnology, water and agricultural
technologies are some of the areas singled out. Comparisons are made on which countries
spend the most on research and development, and how much of that investment comes
from public or private origin.
In March, it was awarded a Gold Medal in the 2011 Axiom Business Book awards competition,
sponsored by INC magazine and book industry firms.
The Next Boom is now available in both hard cover and in ebook formats at Amazon.com,

Chapter 6 "Always On, Always
With You and Always Getting Smaller"
Chapter 6 of The Next Boom provides dramatic examples of the incredibly high level
of innovation and technology advancement that will take place over the mid term.
These advances will be centered on nanotechnology (an extension of the era of miniaturization
that we have been enjoying for 30 years), biotechnology, and information technologies
(in particular, remote wireless sensors and related predictive analytics). This
chapter also draws an analogy between Biotechnology in the 1980's and the current
state of Nanotechnology. The great strides Biotechnology made in 30 years are comparable
to the advances the world is about to see from Nanotechnology.
Chapter 7
Chapter 7 of The Next Boom tries to calm the rampant fear over energy.
Things are probably a LOT better off than you've been thinking.
We do more with less thanks to innovation in everything from appliances and
electronics, to transportation. The world isn't running out of oil,
and the development of the natural gas industry will provide for an ever growing demand.
Chapter 8
This continues our look into "The Next Boom: What You Absolutely,
Positively Have to Know About the World Between Now and 2025."
Chapter 8 covers advances in Health Care technology along with the
ever expanding global market for an industry that will be in high demand
in developing nations. With an ever growing global middle class, and the
demand for Health Care rising exponentially in nations such as China,
it makes for one of the most exciting opportunities of the next quarter century.
