Metrology
Instrument Manufacturing
|
Veeco
Instruments, Inc. is a leading provider of solutions
for nanoscale applications in the worldwide semiconductor,
data storage, telecommunications/wireless and scientific
research markets. The company’s metrology tools
are used to make surface measurements at the nanoscale
level, allowing customers to monitor their products
throughout the manufacturing process in order to improve
yields, reduce costs and enhance product quality.
The firm’s process equipment tools help create
nanoscale devices by precisely depositing or removing
various materials in the manufacturing of advanced
thin film magnetic heads for the data storage industry,
semiconductor deposition of mask reticles and compound
semiconductor/wireless and LED devices. Veeco’s
manufacturing and engineering facilities are located
in New York, New Jersey, California, Colorado, Arizona
and Minnesota. The company also has sales and services
offices located through the U.S., Europe, Japan and
Asia Pacific. Veeco has made 11 acquisitions to date,
including its two most recent acquisitions: Advanced
Imaging, Inc., the world’s leading commercial
manufacturer of precision bar lapping equipment for
advanced data storage thin film magnetic heads; and
Emcore Corporation’s TurboDisc metal organic
chemical vapor deposition business, making Veeco the
only company that provides both key compound semiconductor
epitaxial deposition technologies. Recently, the company
filed a lawsuit against Asylum Research, Inc. for
the manufacture, use and sale of Asylum’s MFP-3D
atomic force microscope, which the firm feels infringes
upon five of its patents.
Veeco provides employees with general
health insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition
reimbursement, an employee assistance program and
a referral program.
