GROWTH PLANS/SPECIAL FEATURES
3DM, Inc., a subsidiary of 3-D Matrix, Ltd., is a specialty biomaterials and medical device company that develops novel nanotechnology therapies for accelerated wound healing and tissue regeneration, drug discovery, cancer biology, stem cell research and bioproduction. The firm’s first biomaterial product is its BD PuraMatrix Peptide Hydrogel, a self-assembling nano-scale scaffold that is employed to create defined three dimensional (3-D) micro-environments for a variety of cell culture experiments in areas such as drug discovery, cancer biology, stem cell research and bioproduction. PuraMatrix is synthesized in small oligopeptide fragments that can self-assemble into nanofibers following injection onto a scaffold. The advantage of this matrix is a well-defined microenvironment, which allows cells to easily proliferate, migrate and engage in critical cell interactions surrounded by important regulatory molecules. Most importantly, PuraMatrix imitates important physical and chemical aspects of an in-vivo environment and uses no animal-derived materials, such as collagen, fibronectin and cadaver tissue, which reduces the risk of infection. PuraMatrix enables acceleration tissue and cell regeneration, can be used as both an in-vitro and in-vivo synthetic extracellular matrix (ECM), is biocompatible and non-immunogenic, and can be regulated as a medical device. Its medical applications include use as injectable cartilage defect and soft tissue fill, cardiovascular regeneration, accelerated cartilage and bone growth, protein drug delivery polymer, implant coating and stem cell therapy delivery vehicle. The company currently markets four distinct hydrogels: PuraMatrix synthetic peptide hydrogels, a research-grade product; PuraMatrixHC high concentration gels, with improved tissue retention and therapeutic delivery properties; PuraMatrixGMP clinical-grade gels; and original PuraMatrix with new functionalities, designed to improve cell adhesion and migration in 3-D culture. PuraMatrix products consist of 0.5% amino acids and 99.5% water that serves as an ordinary 3-D extracellular matrix cell culture gel.
