| | GROWTH PLANS/SPECIAL FEATURES | The Gap, Inc. (Gap) is a leading retailer of clothing, accessories and personal care products for adults, kids and babies through over 3,149 stores in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the U.K., Japan, Germany, Ireland and France. The firm also has more than 100 Gap and Banana Republic stores through franchise agreements in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Gap sells its products under the Gap brand, which includes GapKids, babyGap, GapBody and Gap Outlet, as well as Banana Republic and Old Navy. Gap stores typically embrace all Gap-branded units, such as Gap, babyGap and GapKids under one roof but segregate them into different areas, each with its own street/mall entrance. Gap, Inc. Direct is the firm’s online apparel retailer including Gap.com, BananaRepublic.com and OldNavy.com. In addition, the firm has two online-only brands, Athleta which sells women’s exercise and casual apparel, footwear and accessories; and Piperlime, which sells footwear and handbags for women, men and kids. Gap stores sell classically styled, high-quality casual apparel. Old Navy operates stores in the U.S and Canada and offers a broad selection of apparel, shoes and accessories for adults, children and infants at more affordable prices. Banana Republic has locations in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Japan; and sells men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, personal care products, intimate apparel, jewelry and home accessories to a higher price-point market than traditional Gap stores. In late 2009, the Piperlime site added women’s apparel to its shoe and handbag offerings. The firm plans to open its first Gap store in China in 2010, in addition to expanding its Outlet store concept internationally and launching online businesses in Canada and the U.K.
Gap offers eligible employees tuition reimbursement; adoption assistance; paid volunteer time; home loans; merchandise discounts; and travel assistance. |
