| | GROWTH PLANS/SPECIAL FEATURES | The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries, is an international entertainment company operating in four major business segments: media networks; studio entertainment; consumer products; and parks and resorts. The media networks segment contributes 43% of all revenues. The segment is comprised of domestic broadcast television networks, domestic television stations, cable/satellite networks and international broadcast operations, television production and distribution, domestic broadcast radio networks and stations, as well as Internet and mobile operations. The company also owns and operates cable networks, including ESPN, ABC Family, the History Channel, the Biography Channel, Lifetime Television, E! Entertainment Television, Style and A&E. The studio entertainment segment produces and acquires live action and animated motion pictures, direct-to-video programming, musical recordings and live stage plays. The consumer products segment designs, promotes and sells various merchandise based on the firm’s intellectual property. The parks and resorts segment manages the operations of the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disney Cruise Line in Florida, the Disneyland resort in California and ESPN Zone facilities in several states, as well as managing the Disneyland Resort Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland (in which the company has a 51% and a 43% interest, respectively) and licenses the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan. The Walt Disney World Resort includes the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom; hotels; vacation ownership units; a retail, dining and entertainment complex; a sports complex; conference centers; campgrounds; golf courses; water parks and other recreational facilities. Currently Disney operates 8 ESPN Zones, located in California, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois, Colorado, Nevada, New York and Washington, D.C.
